They are seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Project Development Manager to lead their efforts on the West Coast, driving the development of utility-scale solar projects.

Position Overview: As a Senior Project Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development of large-scale solar projects from inception through to financial close. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project development process, including site identification, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and project financing. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in solar project development, strong leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of large-scale solar projects on the West Coast, overseeing the entire project lifecycle from site selection to financial close.
• Identify and secure suitable project sites, negotiating land agreements, and managing relationships with landowners.
• Navigate complex permitting processes, working closely with local, state, and federal agencies to obtain necessary approvals.
• Engage with stakeholders, including utilities, government officials, community groups, and industry partners, to build support for projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, finance, and legal, to ensure projects are developed on time and within budget.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk, ensuring successful project execution and delivery.
• Support the financing process by providing input on project economics, risks, and opportunities.
• Stay informed of market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments that impact project development.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, sharing expertise and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong focus on large-scale solar projects.
• Proven track record of successfully developing utility-scale solar projects from inception to financial close.
• In-depth knowledge of the West Coast energy markets, including regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, and market dynamics.
• Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in project management software, GIS tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel as required to project sites and stakeholder meetings.
